Location: Mt. Lebanon, PA (Mecka Fitness)
Reports To: Lead Instructor of Department & COO
Employment Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Weekday and weekend class times, including early mornings and evenings

Role Summary

As a Mecka Instructor, you will be responsible for leading engaging, safe, and effective group fitness classes across a range of modalities (excluding CrossFit unless you have CrossFit coaching experience). You will build community, deliver excellent coaching, and ensure every class participant feels supported and inspired. We’re looking for someone versatile, energetic, and eager to contribute to Mecka’s culture of inclusive fitness.

Key Responsibilities

Class Instruction & Delivery

  • Lead and facilitate group fitness classes with energy, clarity, and professionalism.

  • Teach a variety of class formats, including but not limited to:
    BodyLab – intervals blending treadmill/cardio with floor strength work.
    Bootcamp – full-body strength and metabolic conditioning.
    RowFit – rowing-based low-impact circuits with floor intervals.
    Yoga – mindful movement and flexibility for all levels.
    Blend – fusion of yoga, functional movements, and breathwork.
    The Assential – focused glutes and core conditioning.

  • Provide cueing, progressions/regressions, and modifications for participants of varying fitness levels and physical abilities.

Member Engagement

  • Foster an uplifting and motivational environment that makes members feel welcomed and encouraged.

  • Build positive relationships with members, promoting retention and class participation.

  • Demonstrate genuine care, enthusiasm, and support toward each class participant.

Safety & Standards

  • Ensure proper technique, form, and safety measures are upheld during instruction.

  • Monitor class pacing and intensity while maintaining alignment with Mecka’s training standards.

Preparation & Professionalism

  • Arrive prepared and on time for all class (at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your class)

  • Assist with class setup and teardown as needed (equipment, music, tracking attendance).

  • Assisting members and clients with general inquiries, troubleshooting, and purchases.

  • General cleaning of your coaching space

  • Uphold Mecka’s brand values in all interactions, in-studio and online.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Certified Group Fitness Instructor (ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NASM, or equivalent).

  • Dynamic presenting and coaching skills with clear verbal cueing.

  • Passion for fitness and helping others succeed.

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.

Preferred

  • Experience coaching classes like HIIT/Bootcamp, Indoor Rowing, Yoga, or similar formats.

  • CPR/AED & First Aid certification.

  • Strong understanding of exercise physiology principles.

  • Ability to tailor instruction to diverse fitness levels.
